I never thought I'd find myself discussing avocado toast with the Prime Minister of Albania, but life is full of surprises. We crossed paths at Paper or Plastik Café, where the avocado toast was so incredible that it sparked a deep, philosophical conversation about food and culture. PM took one bite and proclaimed, "This is the kind of dish that could bring nations together." He then tried the cherry bomb dessert and, with a nostalgic gleam in his eye, said, "This tastes just like my grandmother's recipe from back home in Albania!" You could almost hear a traditional Albanian folk song playing in the background as he reminisced. The service? Phenomenal--like they were personally catering to world leaders (and lucky me!). The coffee? Exceptional. We both indulged in two double shots of espresso AND a cup of hot chocolate each. Let me tell you, nothing fuels a conversation about world politics and brunch like that caffeine combo. Of course, we had to share the café's legendary avocado toast and a hearty Shakshuka. Edi even joked, "If diplomacy tasted this good, there'd be no need for summits." The atmosphere and design of the café? Extraordinary. It felt like stepping into a perfect blend of modern art and cozy elegance. Honestly, if you're looking for great food, amazing vibes, and the slight chance of discussing life with a world leader, Paper or Plastik Café is the place to be. Five stars.

Delicious food and quaint ambiance. Love their policy of no laptop use, so we don't have to hear folks clicking away on their keyboards.

really good chicken salad. Generous servings, pleasant vibe, and nice servers. parking can be dicey-remember to feed the meter.

It's my favorite place to go with our pup! Patio is so cozy and love the environment.

Staff is so friendly! I use to live up the street and would go twice a week or almost daily! But I moved to Koreatown but whenever I get the chance to go I stop by and just relax! Favorite Is Lavender Latte with Oat Milk but add a shot of espresso so A Dirty Lavender Latte!

This place used to be one of my go-tos while I visited a friend in the area. Agree with people that this place is a pricey pleasure. I really enjoyed the coffee here but the pastries and the breakfast entrees were very expensive. I'd give it 5 stars but baristas were not friendly...and I wish they allowed computers, even if it were just in the outside spots. All street parking, usually would always find a place.

PRICEY PLEASURE I've driven by Paper or Plastik Cafe hundreds of times, so when a neighborhood friend wanted to meet, I suggested coming here. There was plenty of nearby street parking, and I easily found a table by the window. Once my companion I arrived, I went to the counter and ordered a Plum and Ginger Iced Tea ($4) along with a Spinach and Cheese Croissant ($6.35), which a friendly female employee offered to heat up. I was planning to use my credit card, but I couldn't find it. When I tried to pay with cash, I was surprised to learn they don't accept it. Fortunately, I had exact cash, and they accommodated me. My croissant was delicious, and my iced tea was really flavorful. Too bad they don't have refills because this is one of the best iced teas I've had. My companion had a latte ($6.75) and a Rosemary Chicken Salad ($16.75). Even though she ordered before me, it took much longer for her salad to arrive than my croissant. The hearty salad, which was a combination of little gem lettuces, shaved rainbow carrots, dried apricots, candied almonds, fresh herbs, french feta, celery, mustard vinaigrette and, of course, chicken, was so big that my friend was happy to take half of it home. We ordered our food around 1:30PM, but if we had known, we could have met at 2PM for their Happy Hour, where everything is 10% off until 4PM. Since this place is roomy and comfortable, and I could actually hear what my friend is saying, we lingered over our tasty food. Prices are $1-$2 higher than many cafes, but all in all, it was a good experience.

Among walking in I want so sure about the place because the staff just looked at me and didn't say anything. This was my first time in and I was confused where to order one I did the young lady behind the counter spoke and then when I was ready said you need a minute to which I said yes. She was very dry and I'm not sure if that is an LA thing or not but it was bet off putting. I went outside some it was nice. They have a lot of seating around the building that is cool. Once the barista brought my drink my perception of the staff changed he was super friendly. Food: I ordered the lemonade which is lavender and a shot of espresso on top. To say he did exactly what I wanted is an understatement this was the best I've had since I was in NOLA. The croissant sandwich was wonderful and I loved the surprise of heat from the chili aioli. The salad was a nice refreshing side instead of potatoes. All in all this is a cute neighborhood coffee shop.
